In South-West Sydney, footy is the language of the playground — our unit teaches students to speak it properly. A typical 6–10 weeks builds the catch-and-pass off both hands, running onto the ball, evasion and safe grounding, then layers league structure — the tackle count, the play-the-ball — into tag-based games.

What a rugby league unit looks like
The school format is strictly non-contact: tags replace tackles at every stage, and contested work happens on pads and shields, never between students. All the shape and speed of league, none of the collisions — and a natural pathway into our Oztag program for schools that want the tag code year-round.
Units map to stage-relevant PDHPE outcomes — object control on the run, evasion and team structure — with the standard assessment and reporting pack supplied.
We bring everything
Equipment & safety
We bring age-graded footballs, tags and belts, hit shields, cones and bibs. Tags replace tackles at every stage — no student-on-student contact — and any contact work is pads-only. Every coach holds a current Working With Children Check and first-aid certification.

Oztag is its own code with its own rules and competitions; this unit teaches rugby league's specific structure — the tackle count, the play-the-ball, positional shape — in a tag-based format. Plenty of schools run one as the pathway into the other.
